Pool Deck Sealing That Isn’t Slippery

Warranty25-year transferable

Most pool deck sealers are film-forming coatings. They leave a glossy layer that gets slick when wet, then cloud, flake, and peel after a season or two of sun, chlorine, and splash-out.

DuraSeal is a penetrating sealer, not a coating. It absorbs into the concrete or pavers, so there is no film on the surface - traction stays the same wet or dry. It repels water, chlorine, and salt from the inside, stabilizes joint sand on paver decks, and keeps the surface from graying out under UV.

Every pool deck we seal carries a 25-year transferable warranty. We serve North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida.

Why pool decks are the hardest surface on the property

A pool deck takes abuse nothing else in the yard does. It is wet several times a day, it is in full sun most of the afternoon, and everything that lands on it is chemically aggressive: chlorinated splash-out, salt from a saltwater system, sunscreen, bug spray, drink spills and fertilizer tracked in from the lawn. On top of that, people walk on it barefoot and children run on it. So the surface has to shed water and chemicals without ever becoming slick.

Film-forming sealers get this exactly backwards. The glossy layer they leave behind is slippery the moment it is wet, it traps moisture underneath in an area that is constantly wet, and it clouds and flakes after a season or two of chlorine and UV. Then it has to be stripped before anything new can go down.

Traction is the whole point

Because DuraSeal cures inside the concrete or paver rather than on top of it, the texture you walk on is the texture the surface already had. There is no film, so there is no added slipperiness when the deck is wet. That is the single most important difference between a penetrating sealer and a wet-look coating around a pool, and it is the reason we will not sell you a high-gloss finish for a surface people run on barefoot.

What sealing a pool deck actually does for you

  • Repels chlorinated and salt water from inside the material, which is what causes pitting, efflorescence and that chalky white bloom around the coping.
  • Holds paver color instead of letting UV bleach the deck to gray over a couple of summers.
  • Stabilizes joint sand on paver decks, so splash-out and pressure washing stop flushing sand out of the joints and weeds and ants have less to work with.
  • Makes cleanup easier. Sunscreen, drinks and leaf tannin sit on the surface longer instead of soaking straight in.
  • Reduces algae and mildew in the shaded, always-damp areas because the surface dries out faster.
  • No annual recoat cycle and no stripping a failed film off a deck you are trying to enjoy in July.

Our pool deck sealing process

  1. Free on-site quote. We measure the deck, look at the coping, the paver joints and any existing coating, and give you a written price. Start with InstaQuote online or call 888-660-0260.
  2. Protect the pool and the plantings. The water, equipment, coping and surrounding landscaping are covered and protected before any cleaning begins.
  3. Deep clean. Surface cleaning at appropriate pressure, plus treatment for algae, mildew, rust and organic staining. Pores have to be clean and open for a penetrating sealer to work.
  4. Joint sand. On paver decks we top up washed-out joint sand and reset loose pavers where practical.
  5. Dry down. The deck must be genuinely dry before application, so we schedule around weather and around your pool use.
  6. Application. The penetrating sealer is applied to saturation over the full deck. No gloss coat, no film, no change in traction.
  7. Walkthrough and warranty. We review cure times, when you can swim again, and register the 25-year transferable warranty.

Surfaces we seal around pools

Concrete pool decks, brick and concrete pavers, travertine and stone decks, broom-finish and stamped concrete, coping and steps, plus the walkways and patios that connect to the deck. Screened lanais and covered areas get sealed at the same visit. If you have a spray-texture or Kool Deck style overlay, we will look at it on site and tell you honestly whether it is a candidate.

The 25-year transferable warranty

In plain English: if our sealer does not protect your pool deck the way we said it would, we come back and make it right at no charge, for up to 25 years, and the coverage transfers to the next owner if you sell the home. It covers the product and our application. It does not cover pre-existing damage such as cracks, spalling or settlement, and it does not take the place of normal cleaning. Full written terms come with the job.

Pool deck sealing FAQ

Will my deck be slippery after sealing?

No. There is no film on the surface, so traction stays essentially the same wet or dry. This is the main reason we use a penetrating sealer around pools instead of a wet-look coating.

Do I have to drain the pool?

No. The pool stays full. We cover and protect the water, coping and equipment during cleaning and application.

How long before we can use the deck and swim again?

Most decks are back in normal use quickly, usually the same day or the next depending on temperature and humidity. Your crew gives you exact times before they leave.

Will it give my pavers a wet look?

It deepens and evens the natural color, especially on faded pavers, but it does not leave the high-gloss shine of a film-forming sealer. Around a pool that is a feature, not a compromise.

Is it safe for a saltwater pool?

Yes. Salt is one of the things a penetrating sealer is specifically there to keep out of the concrete and pavers, which matters even more on saltwater systems and at the coast.

Will it stop the weeds and ants in my paver joints?

It dramatically reduces them. Stabilized joint sand gives weed seeds and ants far less to work with, and the sand stops washing out every time the deck gets hosed down.

My deck already has a peeling sealer on it. Now what?

The old film has to be removed before ours can penetrate. We evaluate that at the quote and price the stripping separately. We will not seal over a failing coating and call it done.

Do I ever need to reseal?

Not on the two to three year cycle a film-forming product forces on you. Our penetrating sealer carries a 25-year transferable warranty. Routine washing is still normal maintenance.
